October 2022 Dear Friends, Downtown Johnson City continues to grow and is becoming a center for diverse businesses and services. The growth of retail stores with local products, clothing, sports equipment, art galleries, coffee shops and fantastic restaurants and breweries is happening with regularity. It’s the place to be to rejuvenate your spirit, connect with your friends and experience the vibe that only a historic downtown can bring. But it just didn’t happen overnight. It took people like Kim Blaine to believe that downtown was a special place and acting on that faith, she started Downtown Yoga Center at 122 Spring St in June 2015. Kim has lived her mission her to improve the wellness of Johnson City by offering the practice of yoga and growing her yoga studio to become an anchor location for downtown Johnson City and the broader community. I have personally visited Kim at her downtown studio and during classes in Founder’s Park. Not only have I seen a rise in the understanding and acceptance of yoga, but also how Kim and her amazing studio has built strong ties to the community and its leaders. Kim sponsors and organizes impactful activities of philanthropy, partnerships, and business leadership making Downtown Yoga not just a place for yoga activity, but a place where one’s spirit can holistically grow. While it’s important for a downtown to offer all kinds of shops and restaurants, the unique aspect of Kim’s yoga center has helped it grow into one of the premier businesses that helps anchor downtown and makes a wonderful addition to the variety of choices for residents and visitors alike. I am proud to see Downtown Yoga Center continue to grow and fulfill its mission to prosper and bring people together. Thank you, Kim, for your belief in our city and your commitment as a small business owner. You are a tenacious leader in our community and an inspiration to so many (including me!) Best wishes, Jenny Brock Johnson City Commissioner
To whom it may concern, It is my pleasure to write a letter of reference for Kim Blaine. I have known and worked with Kim for 6+ years. My first interaction and partnership with Kim was in 2017 with Fleet Feet Sports. Kim welcomed our new business to town and provided a free yoga class for beginning runners. Kim was one of the first people to welcome us to downtown Johnson City, and her first impression stuck with our entire organization. Moving forward a few years, I worked with Kim on a regular basis as a downtown business owner. Not only did she shine as a small business owner, but she was also an incredible community builder. She brought merchants together, free public programs together, and built a healthy and active lifestyle in our downtown district. As a downtown business owner, Kim has demonstrated a keen understanding of the local community and has worked tirelessly to build strong relationships with customers, visitors, and other business owners in the area. Kim continues to be an active member of the downtown business community, participating in local events and initiatives that aim to promote and support local businesses. She is a team player who is always willing to lend a helping hand to others.. In summary, I highly recommend Kim Blaine for any position she seeks. She has my full confidence and support, and I am confident that she will continue to be a valuable asset to any organization she’s a part of. Sincerely, Lindsey Jones Special Events Manager
I was lucky enough to meet the talented goddess, Kim, in my time in Redondo Beach. She kindly came over to my studio apartment and created an atmosphere of balance and peace. Her knowledge of Feng Shui is as deep as her beautiful dimples...you won't regret hiring her to create harmony in your home or workspace. Lawrence Todd, Chef Repeat Client, 5e Feng Shui
